US Accounting Manager

About this role

The Legal Accountant is hiring an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee bookkeeping quality, lead cleanups, support internal systems, and manage client deliverables. This is a leadership-track position combining technical expertise, process ownership, and team guidance. The Accounting Manager will absorb responsibilities currently handled by the CEO and help shape the delivery infrastructure as the firm grows.

• Review and approve monthly reconciliations, reports, and trust accounting prepared by bookkeepers
• Lead financial cleanup projects and diagnostic reviews for new or complex clients
• Coordinate monthly deliverables (financials, trust recs, KPI snapshots) and maintain delivery timelines
• Build and document internal SOPs and cleanup workflows
• Mentor and provide feedback to junior and mid-level bookkeepers
• Support client onboarding by validating file setups and process readiness
• Collaborate with the CEO to ensure high standards of accuracy, timeliness, and client satisfaction

About you

• Have 5+ years of professional bookkeeping experience, including cleanups and multi-client management
• Are confident reviewing and correcting complex reconciliations, journal entries, and trust accounts
• Must be proficient with QuickBooks Online and/or Xero
• Have experience building workflows, documenting SOPs, and refining internal processes
• Are organized, proactive, and take full ownership of outcomes
• Familiarity with Google Workspace
• Communicate clearly in English, both in writing and on video
• Work well independently and enjoy improving systems, not just completing tasks
• Preferably with experience with law firm clients or trust/IOLTA accounting
• Familiarity with Keeper.app, ClickUp, Clio, or similar tools is an advantage but not required.
• Background in a client-service or remote bookkeeping firm is a plus.
